Subject: Verizon SMS (Text Messaging) "Mail Is In" No Longer Available

All,
Sadly, Verizon has cancelled support for Email to SMS (Text), the method "Mail is In" requires to deliver your daily Alert. If was free, and we've used it for 5 years. So far, other providers still support free Email to SMS, so they will continue to send Alerts as long as they support it. Verizon customers are NOT receiving Alerts via SMS due to the cancellation. We have 26 individuals signed up for SMS alerts; 13 with Verizon and 13 with other vendors. We also have 27 residents who receive Alerts via Email.

It IS possible to buy this Email to SMS as a separate commercial service, but it is about $8.00 - $10.00 per year for each Verizon using resident. Not worth the effort to collect funds and to manage accounts. AND it would be about $130 per year for existing Verizon accounts.

A second free, but not very satisfactory, solution is to switch all 13 Verizon users to Email (no SMS) Alerts.

I'm afraid that the second, email only for Verizon customers, is our best option. I plan to convert all Verizon customers from SMS to Email in the next few days. In the meantime, Verizon SMS residents will not receive Mail is In Alerts.

Seems like vendors and technology are not on our side.
