First, I'm so sorry for the system failure which bombarded some of you with up to hundreds of repetitive messages.  The system that did that has been removed and deleted.  This original was pretty Rube Goldberg, cobbled together with available tools about 5 years ago as inexpensively as we could make it.  I remember with fondness brainstorming it with my friend Lynn Kirlin.  But by the standards of today, our implementation is antique, and it has been deleted.



I'm not sure how important the "Mail is In" alert system is to individual VACNCA residents, but I sense it is worthwhile to many...as long as no more spurious repeated messages arrive.  It turns out using newer tech from Google (so that most operations occur there) is smoother and less risky for the new system.  I've replaced the deleted parts of the old system with new code, and tested it on myself and Cindy (thanks!) for a week, and it works well. It continues to be free to residents.



So, "Mail is In 4.0" is now operational, but will only be turned on for those who ask (see below--you can also ask to have it turned off at any time).  As I said, it has worked flawlessly for most of last week, so I perceive that he risk is small.



IF YOU wish to start receiving the new 4.0 postal mail arrival announcements:

Please reply to this email with YES to use your email and/or text addresses from the old system, or send new ones.



Conversely, if you wish to be permanently removed from the system:

Reply with "Remove Me."
