All,
I am notifying the board that I have suggested the Shoebels may hire an inspector to find the cause of their unit's odor problem, and that if the source is related to an Association responsibility, the Association will pay for remediation and for the inspector.  If not, the Shoebels pay for it.
Is the board ok with that?
The Shoebels have reported for some time now that they experience a musty odor in their unit.  We have sent out A-Team to investigate, and they did not find either the odor or anything under the house that would cause an odor.
I have volunteered to come over when the Schoebels smell the odor to verify it exists and to try and pinpoint what it may be.  I am told that due to the charcoal filters they have in the house, I would not be able to smell anything.
The Shoebels think it has to do with minor standing water under the house.  A-Team has suggested installation of a fan system under the house to see if that corrects the problem.  But that sounds like a waste of money as it does not actually identify and fix the problem.
The Shoebels have asked about what Environmental Insulation found under the unit and what they recommended.  We did have some insulation fixed.  But we did not have the vapor barrier changed, and A-Team says it does not need changing (personally I have no confidence in anything Environmental Insulation recommended).
The Shoebels are frustrated with us.  Thus I suggest the Shoebels hire someone to find the problem.
I have asked Access for a history of repairs to that unit to see if it points to anything.  I will look through our old records as well.
